Ford has decided to return to Formula 1

Ford has decided to return to Formula 1

Ford is returning to Formula 1 after being gone for more than 20 years. The most prestigious class in motorsports is moving into a new era of electric cars, so it makes sense for Ford to return to Formula 1. When Ford returns to Formula 1, it will work with "Red Bull Powertrains" to make the next generation of hybrid engines for "Oracle Red Bull Racing" and "Scuderia AlphaTauri teams." This will happen between 2026 and 2030, at least.

Around the world, including in the US, interest in Formula 1 continues to grow, and more and more people are getting into the sport. Formula 1 and the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) have also promised to find alternatives to traditional fuel and use electricity more. This is one of the main reasons why Ford has decided to return to Formula 1.

Ford's history in motorsports is one of the best, so the company's return to the FIA Formula One World Championship is excellent news. At the same time, it stops the "2026 Power Unit Regulations," which require motorsport to pay more attention to being environmentally friendly. At the same time, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the president of the FIA, says that the growing interest from the United States is also significant to make sure that motorsport keeps growing.

Even though Ford left the sport in 2004, it is still the third most successful engine manufacturer in Formula 1 history, with ten wins in the Constructor's Championship and 13 in the Driver's Championship.

The good news for Formula 1 is that Ford will be back in the sport in 2026. Formula 1's President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali, says that he is looking forward to having them join a great group of people who work together.

Ford and "Red Bull Powertrains" will start working on the so-called "power unit" this year. This is the most complicated part of a Formula 1 car and will be part of the new technical rules in 2026. The power unit will include a 350kW electric engine and a new internal combustion engine that can run on alternative fuel.

Ford's return to Formula 1 with "Red Bull Racing" shows where the company is going: to focus on electrification, software-defined, modern cars, and experiences. Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company, says that Formula 1 will be a very low-cost way to develop new ideas, share technologies, and link with millions of new customers.

Ford will help the racing teams in any way that it can with its technical know-how. In this context, there will be a special focus on developing internal combustion engines, battery cells, electric motor technology, software for so-called power units, and analyses of them.

With this project, it's great to welcome Ford back to Formula 1. We can now take advantage of Ford's many years of experience as an independent engine maker, which gives us a significant advantage over our competitors. Ford's history as a car company goes back many decades, from Jim Clark to Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. Starting a new chapter with Ford as "Red Bull Ford" is very exciting for us at Red Bull Powertrains. Even though 2026 is a long way off, the work has already begun, and Christian Horner, CEO of the Oracle Red Bull Racing Team, says that they are looking forward to a new future and the continued growth of "Oracle Red Bull Racing."

Ford is spending $50 billion to be the world's leader in the electric revolution. Ford is the second best-selling brand of electric cars, thanks to the popularity of the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E. In many global markets, the Ford E-Transit is also the market leader for Ford. Ford is working to deliver 600,000 electric cars worldwide every year by the end of this year. By the end of 2026, this number is expected to rise to 2 million electric vehicles per year. All of this is part of Ford+.

By 2026, Ford will be the only car company to race in everything from grassroots racing series to Formula 1. This includes "WEC" and "IMSA," including "Le Mans 24 Hours" with Mustang GT3, "WRC" with M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally 1, "Dakar" with Ranger Raptor, "Baja 1000" with Ford Ranger Raptor and Ford Bronco, and "NASCAR," "NHRA," and "Supercars" with Mustang.

Ford will continue to work with motorsport teams in the future and is excited to use the latest technologies and software in its upcoming electric cars.

Ford Performance is about to go through a new and exciting time. With "Red Bull Racing," we will try to win Formula 1, the highest level of racing. You'll also be able to watch the Ford Mustang, the most popular sports car in the world, race in grassroots racing series for Australian supercars to "NASCAR" to "Le Mans." We will improve our driving position in the "World Rally Championship," "King of Hammers," "Baha 100," and many other events. Jim Farley says that in the end, we keep exciting the world with cool cars like the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan and the Mustang Mach-E 1400.
