Ford Ranger has been a hit with consumers since its inception in 1983, and it continues to win over buyers with its combination of style, practicality, and performance. The Ford Ranger remains Europe's top-selling pickup, with a market share of 44.9 percent in 2022 and year-on-year share growth of 18 percent. Ford Pro has announced two exciting new off-road-focused models for the Ranger line-up: the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ford Ranger Tremor.
The Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor are designed for customers who require enhanced capability in tough off-road conditions. The chassis of both vehicles have been substantially reworked, featuring advanced Bilstein dampers as standard. The two new Ranger variants also feature unique suspension upgrades and off-road-focused driver assistance systems that provide increased confidence in challenging environments.
The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X boasts a ride height increase of 26mm and a 30mm wider track width for improved stability and balance on rugged terrain. The Ranger Wildtrak X also comes equipped with an electronic locking rear differential and a Terrain Management System with six selectable modes. The Ranger Wildtrak X is a rugged-looking vehicle that can take on any challenge.
The Ford Ranger Tremor is another off-road-focused model that offers even more capability and customization than the Wildtrak X. The Ranger Tremor features a JPP 2-inch lift kit with Bilstein monotube dampers that provide increased ground clearance and wheel travel. The Ranger Tremor also has unique front knuckles and upper control arms that improve suspension geometry and steering feel. The Ranger Tremor also features an electronic locking rear differential and a Terrain Management System with seven selectable modes. With its distinctive Magnetic Grey paint, black accents, and Tremor decals, the Ford Ranger Tremor is a true head-turner.
Both the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor are powered by a 2.0-liter EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel engine that develops 213 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The bi-turbo diesel engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that offers smooth shifting and optimal gear ratios. Both models also come with all the standard safety and convenience features of the Ranger, such as airbags, ABS, ESP, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, air conditioning, SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a wireless charging pad.
In terms of cargo capacity, both the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X and the Ranger Tremor offer the segment-first Flexible Rack System option to maximize the load-carrying ability for longer items. The easy-to-use system consists of two crossbars that can be mounted on the roof rails or bed rails to create different configurations depending on the cargo size and shape. The system can also be used to mount accessories such as bike racks or roof boxes.
The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor are available to order now in Europe, with deliveries set to begin in August 2023. The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X starts at €46,000, while the Ford Ranger Tremor is priced at €49,000.
