The BMW X3 M50 xDrive gains 33 kW and an optional Black Package from December 2026. The distinction matters: every updated M50 receives the stronger powertrain, regardless of its styling options. BMW quotes 326 kW (443 PS), Euro 7 compliance and a 4.4-second sprint to 100 km/h for the revised SUV.
B58 Power: Separate Engine Output From System Output
The 3.0-litre B58 straight-six works with a transmission-integrated electric motor and an eight-speed Steptronic automatic. BMW lists 580 Nm for the complete 48V mild hybrid system; the petrol engine alone supplies 540 Nm from 1,980-5,400 rpm. That broad torque plateau supports acceleration without requiring the engine to approach its power peak.
| European specification | Petrol engine | Complete mild hybrid system |
|---|---|---|
| Peak power | 313 kW / 426 PS | 326 kW / 443 PS |
| Peak torque | 540 Nm | 580 Nm |
| Peak-power engine speed | 5,600-6,500 rpm | BMW gives no separate figure |
| Propulsion hardware | 2,998 cc turbocharged six-cylinder | Petrol engine plus 13 kW electric motor |
Do not add the individual torque ratings. The components reach their peaks under different operating conditions, so the system rating defines the usable combined output. BMW quotes 8.1-8.8 litres/100 km under WLTP.
What Does the Black Package Add?
The package targets appearance and cabin materials. Its 22-inch wheels measure 558.8 mm across the nominal rim diameter, a calculated conversion rather than the tyre's outside diameter.
- Polygon 1134 M Black wheels, gloss-black brake callipers and dark badges with silver outlines.
- Alcantara/Veganza upholstery with blue stitching and piping, plus wider Alcantara coverage across cabin surfaces.
- Carbon-look trim and CraftedClarity glass controls.
The body retains a 4,755 mm length (187.2 inches) and 2,865 mm wheelbase (112.8 inches), using calculated inch conversions. Boot space spans 570-1,700 litres.
