Lufthansa Cargo, the world's leading airfreight carrier, is strengthening its eCommerce business at Frankfurt Airport. The company invests in new infrastructure and technology to handle the growing demand for eCommerce shipments.
New eCommerce Terminal
Lufthansa Cargo has opened a new eCommerce terminal at Frankfurt Airport. The terminal is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including automated sorting systems and RFID tags. This technology will allow Lufthansa Cargo to handle eCommerce shipments more efficiently and quickly.
The new terminal has a capacity of 100,000 tons per year. It is equipped with 12 automated sorting lines, which can process up to 1,000 packages per minute. The terminal also has an RFID tagging system, which allows Lufthansa Cargo to track the location of each package at all times.
New Aircraft
In addition to the new terminal, Lufthansa Cargo is also investing in new aircraft to support its eCommerce business. The company has ordered a fleet of new Boeing 777 freighters scheduled to enter service in 2024. These aircraft will be able to carry more eCommerce shipments than the company's current fleet.
The new Boeing 777 freighters have a capacity of 102 tons each. They also have state-of-the-art technology, including advanced loading systems and climate-controlled cargo holds.
