The Chevrolet Traverse is one of the most popular midsize SUVs in the market, offering spacious seating for up to eight passengers, best-in-class cargo space, and a suite of innovative tech and safety features. For the 2024 model year, the Traverse gets a complete overhaul with a new exterior design, a new turbocharged engine, a new Z71 trim level, and more.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse features a more rugged and truck-like appearance than the previous generation, with a dual-tier headlight configuration, a forward-leaning C-pillar treatment, and a larger grille. The new Traverse also offers a variety of wheel options, ranging from 18 to 22 inches in diameter, and quad-tipped exhaust outlets that resemble those of the Corvette C8 Stingray.
One of the most notable additions to the Chevrolet Traverse lineup is the first-ever Z71 trim level, which is designed for off-road adventures. The Z71 comes with all-wheel drive with twin-clutch, off-road suspension, skid plates, tow hooks, hill descent control, trailering equipment, and 18-inch high-gloss black machined-faced wheels with all-terrain tires. The Z71 also features unique badging and embroidery on the exterior and interior.
Another standout trim level is the RS, which replaces the previous Rally Sport model. The RS offers a sportier ride and handling experience thanks to its unique suspension tune and 22-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels. The RS also boasts gloss black roof rails, a sunroof, trailering equipment, and jet-black leather-appointed seats with red accents.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also introduces a new powertrain option: a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers an estimated 300 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and is available on all trim levels except the Z71. The standard engine remains the 3.6-liter V6, producing 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.
Inside, the 2024 Traverse offers a completely redesigned cabin with better ergonomics and more usable space. The Traverse boasts a best-in-class 98 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume and flexible second-row seating options with either bench seats or available captain鈥檚 chairs. The Traverse also features a smart sense liftgate that opens automatically when it senses your presence.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse also comes with a host of tech and safety features, including a best-in-class standard 17.7-inch diagonal color touchscreen infotainment system with HD streaming and in-vehicle apps. The Traverse also offers a digital instrument panel, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system.
For safety, the new Chevrolet Traverse offers standard automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, following distance indicator, IntelliBeam headlamps, rear vision camera, rear seat reminder, and teen driver mode. Available safety features include adaptive cruise control, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, HD surround vision camera system, safety alert seat, head-up display, and Super Cruise semi-autonomous highway assistant.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is expected to go on sale in early 2024. Pricing has not been announced yet but is likely to be similar to the current model鈥檚 range of $30K-$50K. The Chevrolet Traverse will compete with other midsize SUVs such as the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Volkswagen Atlas, Subaru Ascent, Mazda CX-9, and Nissan Pathfinder.
The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse is a midsize SUV that offers more style, power, and capability than ever before. Whether you鈥檙e looking for a family-friendly SUV, an off-road adventure machine, or both, a Chevrolet Traverse is right for you.
