The Mercedes G Wagon is one of the most iconic and versatile SUVs on the market. It combines luxury, performance, and off-road capability in a distinctive boxy shape. But what if you want to take your G Wagon on a camping adventure far away from civilization? That's where Terracamper comes in.
Terracamper is a German company that specializes in converting various vehicles into camper vans. Their latest product is the Tecrawl, a modular accessory kit that turns the Mercedes-Benz G Wagon into a fully equipped off-grid camper van that can sleep up to three adults.
The Tecrawl kit consists of several components that can be easily installed and removed from the G Wagon without any permanent modifications. The kit includes:
- A roof-mounted tent that can accommodate two people. The tent is accessible via a ladder and has a retractable awning for shade.
- A sofa bed that can be folded out in the rear cargo area for the third person. The sofa bed also serves as a dining table and a workspace with a desk.
- A pull-out kitchenette that features a two-burner gas stove, a fridge box, a pantry, and fold-up counters. The kitchenette can be used outdoors or indoors, depending on the weather.
- A thermal insulation pack that keeps the interior warm and cozy in cold climates. The pack also reduces noise and improves privacy.
- A 150-Ah lithium battery pack that powers the lights, the fridge, and the USB outlets. The battery can be charged by the vehicle's alternator or by an optional solar panel.
- A storage system that provides ample space for clothes, gear, and other essentials. The storage system is modular and can be customized according to the user's needs.
The Tecrawl kit is compatible with any G Wagon model built after 2019. The Tecrawl kit costs around $12,000, excluding the base vehicle, which starts at $139,900. The kit can be ordered directly from Terracamper or through their authorized dealers in Europe and North America.
The Tecrawl kit is not the first camper conversion for the G Wagon. In fact, Mercedes itself offers a factory-built G Wagon camper called the G 320 Adventure, which has a pop-up roof, a kitchen, and a bathroom. However, the Mercedes-Benz G 320 Adventure is only available in select markets and costs over $200,000.
The Tecrawl kit, on the other hand, is more affordable, flexible, and stealthy. It allows the G Wagon owners to enjoy the best of both worlds: a luxurious and powerful SUV for everyday driving and a rugged and comfortable camper van for off-grid camping.
The Tecrawl kit is ideal for those who love nature and adventure but don't want to compromise on style and comfort. With the Tecrawl kit, you can explore the most remote and scenic places in the world with your Mercedes-Benz G Wagon and have a cozy and convenient home away from home. @via Terracamper Tecrawl.
