Citroen My Ami Buggy is a new electric car that has taken Europe by storm. The quirky two-seater vehicle, which looks like a cross between a golf cart and a toy car, sold out in just a few hours after it was launched online on June 15, 2023.
The electric city car, which costs only $7,800 (6,500 euros), is designed for urban mobility and can be driven by anyone over 14 years old in France and 16 years old in other European countries. It has a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h) and a range of 43 miles (70 km) on a single charge.
Citroen, a brand of Stellantis, the world’s fourth-largest automaker, said it received more than 20,000 orders for the Citroen My Ami Buggy in less than four hours on its website. The company had initially planned to produce only 10,000 units of the car for the European market, but due to the overwhelming demand, it decided to increase the production capacity to 30,000 units by the end of 2023.
