Citroen is advocating for electric vehicles in Italy

La Maddalena is the largest island in the Italian archipelago of the same name, located just off the northeast coast of Sardinia. For this reason, the island's municipality is highly concerned about safeguarding the environment and the terrestrial and marine wildlife and preserving the inhabitants' and countless tourists' quality of life.

As part of the "Citroen drive La Maddalena electric" initiative, the Citroen brand is providing local authorities with various electric mobility alternatives, which will help protect the island. The Citroen Ami, Citroen e-C4, and Citroen e-Berlingo let workers move around the island without causing much noise or producing CO2.

The municipal, naval, national park, administrative, and police departments' transportation demands are all expertly met by the fleet of nine Citroen electric vehicles. Citroen also provided the charging infrastructure and sent two wall boxes to the island community. And what's more, islanders have access to special incentives and discounts on purchasing Citroen e-vehicles, complete with charging infrastructure, that is only available on the island.

The project aims to promote the energy transition and sustainable mobility to better people's lives. Fewer distractions, higher air quality, and a more pristine setting are some benefits. This shows how forward-thinking and innovative Citroen is, and it's in line with the company's core value that everyone should be able to get around.

"We are happy to be the first town to join the 'Citroen Drive La Maddalena Electric' program," said Mayor Fabio Lai of La Maddalena. Our natural environment is one of our most valuable resources, and we want to see all our inhabitants do all they can to preserve it.

"The project carried out in Italy for the island of La Maddalena fits perfectly into Citroen's global strategy: it contributes to the electrification process that Citroen is pursuing with great conviction, to pave the way for a better future," said Laurent Barria, Director of Marketing and Communications for Citroen. "Citroen's continued efforts, like the one in Halki, Greece, show the company is serious about promoting electric mobility to help its customers achieve environmental sustainability wherever they may live. At Citroen, we pride ourselves on providing our customers with the solutions best suited to their needs, providing them with a piece of mind in this essential green transition process. "

"We are happy to contribute to the preservation and protection of one of our nation's most stunning natural assets with our electric vehicles," said Marco Antonini, Brand Manager of Citroen Italy. "We wish to accompany this transformation with all of our experience and the boldness that has always marked us. We have a deep commitment to the energy transition toward sustainable mobility. Access to e-mobility for everybody is a primary focus for us. I am sure this initiative can be a source of inspiration for the island's residents and in general for all customers interested in transportation that respects our planet."

The island of La Maddalena is located off the northeast coast of Sardinia. It has an area of 20 km2 and is the only inhabited island in the archipelago of the same name. The town of La Maddalena was settled around 1770 and is located in the southern part of the main island, opposite the Sardinian municipality of Palau. The archipelago of the same name comprises various islands and islets with roughly 12,000 residents.

About 45 kilometers of the island of La Maddalena's rocky shoreline are deeply indented, creating stunning coves and bays. The island's main tourist attraction is the pristine landscape with its abundant fauna and equally richly populated bottom. Since 1994, La Maddalena and the whole archipelago have been part of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, a protected marine and terrestrial natural space of national and local interest.

Citroen AMI

An unconventional and fully electric mobility option that can be driven by anyone over the age of 15 in Germany with a class AM driver's license (a license for vehicles with engines smaller than 50 cm3). The Citroen Ami's small size makes it easy to steer and park. The interior is set up with two seats next to each other for maximum comfort. With a range of up to 75 km and a top speed of up to 45 km/h, the Ami is excellent for ordinary city traffic. From a regular 220 V outlet, only three hours are needed to charge its 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery fully.

Citroen e-C4

The new compact car is an electric vehicle that combines modern transportation's convenience with a traditional sedan's comfort and adaptability. The all-electric Citroen e-C4 has a WLTP-estimated range of up to 352 kilometers and zero carbon dioxide emissions. The 380-liter luggage compartment has a low loading sill of 715 millimeters and a broad aperture for convenience. Once the back seats are collapsed, a level loading space with a capacity of 1,250 liters is made available.

Citroen e-Berlingo

The WLTP-estimated range of the model is up to 285 km, making it a practical and adaptable companion for daily use. The Citroen e-Berlingo can be purchased in two different sizes, each of which can hold up to seven passengers. Features such as sizeable usable space within, adaptability, and modularity define it. A total of 4,000 liters of cargo space (in the XL length) and a loading length of up to 3.05 meters are made possible by the three individual seats in the rear, the multipurpose Modutop roof, and the opening rear window.
