Despite a difficult year, the British premium manufacturer MINI sold 292,923 vehicles in 2022. Plug-in automobiles accounted for 21% of total sales, with the all-electric MINI Cooper SE becoming the most popular model variant.
Global car sales fell by 3% in 2022 compared to prior years, but demand for rechargeable batteries climbed by 14.3 percent. During the year, 60,839 plug-in automobiles were sold on the global market, with the MINI Cooper SE electric car selling the most, with 43,744 units sold, a 25.5 percent increase over 2021.
"In a market that is dropping by 6.1 percent overall, MINI's ability to go against the grain and expand is important. When we look at the figures, we can see that MINI expanded in both the individual and corporate car segments. Evidence that the brand and model lineup are important to the market. We are about to embark on an exciting year in which we will introduce the next generation of electric vehicles to the MINI family and continue to improve the digital customer experience."
2023 marks the 110th anniversary of MINI car manufacturing at the Oxford factory, as well as a significant beginning point and milestone on the road to become an all-electric brand by 2030. MINI will unveil two new electric vehicles representing the company's next generation throughout the year. Swedes will get a first look at what will define the design language of MINI's next-generation electric cars as early as February. The MINI Concept Aceman will be displayed at the eCar Expo, held on February 3-5 at the Friends Arena in Stockholm.
