Vauxhall unveils new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans with improved efficiency and technology

Vauxhall Vivaro Electric

Vauxhall has revealed the latest versions of its popular Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans, which offer improved efficiency, performance, and technology for 2024. The new models feature a refreshed design, new engines, and a range of advanced driver assistance and safety systems.

New design and engines for the Vivaro and Vivaro Electric

The new Vauxhall Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric vans have a more modern and dynamic appearance, with a revised front grille, bumper, and headlights. The vans also have new LED daytime running lights, rear lights, and alloy wheel designs and colors.

The new Vivaro has a choice of two diesel engines and one petrol engine, all of which comply with the latest Euro 6d emissions standards. The diesel engines are a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit with 100 hp or 120 hp, and a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit with 150 hp or 180 hp. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit with 110 hp. All engines are paired with a six-speed manual gearbox except for the 180-hp diesel, which comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Vauxhall Vivaro Electric is powered by a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and a choice of two battery sizes: 50 kWh or 75 kWh. The 50 kWh battery offers a driving range of up to 143 miles, while the 75 kWh battery offers a range of up to 205 miles, according to the WLTP test cycle. The Vauxhall Vivaro Electric can be charged from 0 to 80% in as little as 32 minutes using a 100 kW rapid charger or in 7 hours and 30 minutes using a 7.4 kW wallbox.

New technology and features for the Vivaro and Vivaro Electric

The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans are equipped with new technology and features to enhance drivers' and passengers' comfort, convenience, and safety. The vans have a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The vans also have a new digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a rear-view camera.

The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans also benefit from advanced driver assistance and safety systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot alert, forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and driver drowsiness alert. The vans also have a semi-autonomous parking assist system, which can steer the vehicle into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces.

New variants and trim levels for the Vivaro and Vivaro Electric

The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans are available in two body lengths (L1 and L2) and three roof heights (H1, H2, and H3). Depending on the customers ' needs, the vans can also be configured as panel vans, crew vans, or passenger vans. The vans have a maximum payload of up to 1,226 kg and a maximum towing capacity of up to 2,500 kg.

The new Vauxhall Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric vans are offered in two trim levels: Dynamic and Elite. The Dynamic trim level includes air conditioning, cruise control, rear parking sensors, electric windows and mirrors, and a leather steering wheel. The Elite trim level adds alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and a head-up display.

How do the new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans compare to their rivals?

The new Vauxhall Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric vans are among the most competitive and attractive models in the medium-sized van segment, offering a great balance of efficiency, performance, and technology. However, they are not the only options in the market, as they face strong competition from other brands, such as Ford, Volkswagen, Renault, and Mercedes-Benz.

The table below compares some of the key specifications and prices of the new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans with some of their main rivals:

ModelEnginePowerTorqueFuel economyCO2 emissionsDriving rangePayloadPrice
Vauxhall Vivaro 1.5 Diesel 100 hp1.5-litre turbo diesel100 hp270 Nm47.9 mpg154 g/kmN/A1,226 kg$28,800

Mercedes-Benz eVitoElectric motor114 hp300 NmN/A0 g/km92 miles923 kg$49,900

As the table shows, the new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans have some advantages and disadvantages compared to their rivals. For example, the Vauxhall Vivaro 1.5 Diesel 100 hp has the highest payload and the lowest CO2 emissions among the diesel models but has the lowest power and torque. The Vivaro Electric 50 kWh has the longest driving range and the lowest running costs among the electric models, but it also has the highest price and the lowest payload.

Therefore, the best choice for the customers will depend on their specific needs and preferences, such as the type of driving they do, the amount of cargo they carry, and the budget they have. However, the new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans are worth considering, as they offer great value and versatility for the medium-sized van market.
