Mercedes-Benz VLE Gains 4MATIC and a Lower Entry Price

Mercedes-Benz has opened German orders for new VLE variants, expanding its electric luxury MPV with all-wheel drive, lower-priced specifications, and greater equipment flexibility. The updated range starts at EUR 70,735.39 including VAT for the five-seat VLE 300.

Looking at the data, the headline addition is the Mercedes-Benz VLE 400 4MATIC, which targets buyers who need stronger traction, rapid acceleration, and serious towing capability.

VLE 400 4MATIC Brings 310 kW and Dual Motors

The VLE 400 4MATIC combines a front permanent-magnet synchronous motor with a second motor at the rear. It produces 310 kW, equivalent to approximately 416 hp, and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

Specifically, a Disconnect Unit disengages the rear motor and parts of its transmission under light loads. This design cuts rear-axle drag losses by as much as 90 percent, while silicon-carbide inverters improve electrical efficiency.

Consequently, buyers sacrifice some range for the VLE 400's additional traction and power. The 4MATIC model can tow 2,500 kg and carry 100 kg on the towbar, making it suitable for caravans, horse trailers, boats, or an approved E-bike carrier.

Mercedes has yet to release torque output, a torque curve, curb weight, ground clearance, or approach and departure angles. Buyers should avoid interpreting 4MATIC as an off-road package.

Lower Entry Prices Expand the VLE's Reach

The revised VLE 300 costs EUR 7,160.58 less than the five-seat version announced in July 2026. Mercedes achieved that reduction by letting customers skip previously required options, including AIRMATIC suspension. Buyers can also select 11-kW or 22-kW AC charging.

In addition, the 800-volt electrical architecture supports 300-kW DC charging and can add up to 355 km of WLTP range in 15 minutes. Optional rear-wheel steering turns the rear wheels by as much as seven degrees, reducing the curb-to-curb turning circle by two metres to 10.9 metres.
