In 2021, Porsche says they sold more Taycan electric cars than the famous Porsche 911 Turbo. Taycan is the first electric car made by Porsche and has been on the market since 2019. In 2019 alone, 20,000 Porsche Taycan electric cars were sold. In 2021, Porsche Taycan sales grew to 41,296 units.
There were 38,464 units of the Porsche 911 Turbo were sold. This outcome means that Porsche Taycan broke the record for sales.
You might think it is easy to write about the Porsche Taycan because it has many thrilling features. How hard is it to write a few lines about a car with so many exciting features? To describe the feelings this car gives you is more complex than you might think. The emotions this electric car gives you are hard to put into words, which do not match the feelings that cars with internal combustion give. If you do not get it, I will try this: For example, when you start to use a launch control with a car like the Porsche Panamera, you feel like the car is speeding up like a locomotive.
You can see how much weight the Porsche Taycan electric car has and how hard the engine works to move it in the direction you want. The torque, or power of the electric motor, is shown to the driver in the form of more and more forces as the engine speeds up and the turbines spin properly. This is how the driver feels the torque. There are tremendous forces taking place under the hood, but your right foot is in charge of them. The sound of the engine makes you aware of them. This whole thing happens in a split second, but you know about it and know that you are in charge of what happens. This gives you the confidence that you are in control of what happens.
If there was a car that could go faster than a locomotive, but like an X-Wing in Star Wars, then that would be cool. Imagine that this car makes noises to make you feel in charge, to let you feel in charge of the car. You do not feel like you are in charge during your first launch with launch control. When you are behind the wheel of a car, you feel like you are on a rollercoaster that you did not know what to expect. Yes, the Porsche Taycan electric car makes a unique sound. It does not sound like an internal combustion engine, and I am grateful to the German manufacturer for this.
