The Peugeot E-T16 Concept brings the 205 T16's rally heritage into the electric era with three motors, 600 kW (816 PS) and all-wheel drive. Peugeot Sport helped develop the concept, which honours the original's 1985 and 1986 rally championship victories while previewing the next Peugeot E-208. Peugeot quotes 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-300 km/h in 16 seconds. Those figures describe the concept; Peugeot has announced no production launch.
Three Motors, Targeted Torque
One motor drives the front axle; two serve the rear. Specifically, torque vectoring adjusts torque between the rear wheels and between axles as grip changes, giving the control system another tool to manage cornering behaviour. Three preset modes, including Track, adjust power delivery, torque distribution and suspension settings; a fourth lets drivers customise the setup.
| Hardware | Front axle | Rear axle |
|---|---|---|
| Electric motors | One | Two |
| Michelin tyre width | 275 mm / 10.83 inches | 315 mm / 12.40 inches |
| Brake discs | Two, 380 mm each | Two, 380 mm each |
| Disc diameter in inches | 14.96 | 14.96 |
The rear tyres add 40 mm of width per wheel. Peugeot also fits a vertical hydraulic handbrake, while the lifting rear bodywork gives access to the motors and suspension hardware.
Battery Cooling Targets Repeatable Speed
Peak output tells only part of the story. Peugeot's Side Cooling system draws heat through the battery cells' sidewalls rather than their bases, targeting the overheating that can trigger protective power reductions. Peugeot claims three Nürburgring Nordschleife laps, covering over 60 km, without power restriction in Performance mode. The releases supply no independent test report.
| Measure | Peugeot's stated figure | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 85 kWh | Gross/usable split unspecified |
| Electrical architecture | 800V | Higher voltage reduces current at a given power |
| Combined WLTP range | Up to 400 km | Concept claim, not a motorway-range result |
| Charging window | 10-80% | Adds 70 percentage points |
| Charging time | Under 15 minutes | Charger and temperature affect results |
What Reaches the Next E-208?
Peugeot links its Feline Future design to the next E-208 through horizontal three-claw lighting and the next digital i-Cockpit. Inside, a 21-inch panoramic display sits above the Hypersquare steer-by-wire control. The concept adds a central steering display, carbon-shell seats and four-point harnesses; Peugeot specifies an airbag in place of that central display for the future E-208.
Pro-Tips: Should You Wait to Buy One?
Use the E-T16 as a technology preview when planning a purchase:
- Ask for a confirmed production announcement and price before changing your buying plans.
- Compare certified production-car range and charging figures against your actual routes.
- Keep the concept's three-motor powertrain separate from Peugeot's E-208 design preview.
The releases give no E-T16 price, production date, wheelbase or torque figure. They do not establish a confirmed 2027 model.
