Ford has unveiled a new version of its electric crossover, the Mustang Mach-E, at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is a rally-inspired model that combines the zero-emission powertrain of the Mach-E with the off-road capabilities and high-speed performance of a rally car.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is not just a concept or a one-off show car. It is a production-intent model that will be available to order in the US and Europe later this year. Ford says it is the first-ever rally-inspired Mustang Mach-E, and it aims to provide customers with the freedom to venture off the asphalt and beyond the beaten path.
What makes the Mustang Mach-E Rally different?
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is based on the Ford GT Performance Edition of the Mach-E, which delivers 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The Rally version adds some distinctive features that enhance its off-road and on-road performance, such as:
- A reprofiled front bumper with new spotlights in the grille and faux intakes featuring dozens of tessellated "MM" logos.
- A rear diffuser and a large wing that resembles those of the Focus RS.
- A raised suspension with increased ground clearance and improved damping.
- A set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in knobby tires that provide a better grip on dirt and gravel.
- A unique paint scheme that features a colorful gradient from blue to orange, along with black accents and stripes.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally also features some interior upgrades, such as:
- Recaro sport seats with blue stitching and "Rally" logos.
- A carbon fiber dashboard with a digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch infotainment display.
- A rally-style steering wheel with paddle shifters and a red start button.
- A custom sound system that simulates the engine noise of a rally car.
How does the Mustang Mach-E Rally perform?
Ford has not revealed the exact performance figures for the Mustang Mach-E Rally, but it claims it will offer an authentic rally experience with the ability to hit special stages at high speed. The standard GT Performance Edition can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has an estimated range of 235 miles on a single charge. The Rally version is expected to have similar or slightly lower numbers, depending on the driving mode and conditions.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, driven by Ott Tänak, current driver of the M-Sport Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 entry and former World Rally champion. Tänak easily tackled the famous hill climb course, showing off the agility and power of the electric crossover.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is not Ford's only electric vehicle to Goodwood this year. The automaker also showcased its Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck, which is set to become the best-selling electric vehicle in America when it launches next year. The Ford F-150 Lightning boasts up to 563 horsepower, 775 pound-feet of torque, 300 miles of range, and a host of smart features and technologies.
How much does the Mustang Mach-E Rally cost?

The regular Ford Mustang Mach-E ranges from $35,395 to $59,900 in the US (approximately €30,000 to €51,000 or £25,500 to £43,500).
