The Fiat Panda 4x4 is one of the most iconic and versatile vehicles in the history of the Italian automaker. Since its debut in 1983, it has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide, conquering markets and terrains with its compact dimensions, robust design, and all-wheel drive system.
To mark the 40th anniversary of this legendary model, Fiat has launched a new Panda 4x40° Limited Edition. This special series combines the Fiat heritage and innovation of the Panda 4x4 with a distinctive style and exclusive features.
The Fiat Panda 4x40° Limited Edition is based on the Fiat Panda City Cross trim level but adds some unique elements that make it stand out from the crowd. The exterior features a two-tone livery with a black roof and mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels with a burnished finish, and chrome details on the front grille, fog lights, and door handles. The rear bumper also sports a special badge with the number 40 and the word "degrees,” referring to the Panda 4x4’s ability to tackle slopes up to 40 degrees.
The interior of the Panda 4x40° Limited Edition is equally distinctive, with black fabric seats with copper stitching and logo, a leather steering wheel with copper inserts, and a dashboard with a copper finish. The limited edition also comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a wireless smartphone charger.
The Fiat Panda 4x40° Limited Edition is powered by a 1.0-liter hybrid engine that delivers 70 horsepower and 92 Nm of torque (but even the Fiat 500X has more horsepower), paired with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system with an electronic locking differential. The hybrid engine combines a three-cylinder gasoline engine with a 12-volt belt-integrated starter generator (BISG) that recovers energy during braking and deceleration and stores it in a lithium battery. The BISG also supports the engine during acceleration, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
According to Fiat, the Panda 4x40° Limited Edition can achieve an average fuel economy of 5.2 liters per 100 km (45 mpg) and emit 118 grams of CO2 per km (189 g/mi). The hybrid engine also allows the Panda 4x40° Limited Edition to access restricted traffic zones in some European cities.
The Panda 4x40° Limited Edition is available in two colors: Ice White and Crossover Black, both with a black roof. The price of the limited edition starts from €18,900 ($21,200) in Italy, where it is already on sale. Fiat plans to sell only 400 units of the Panda 4x40° Limited Edition in Europe, making it a rare and exclusive vehicle for fans of the Panda 4x4.
The Fiat Panda 4x40° Limited Edition is not only a tribute to the past but also a glimpse into the future of Fiat. The automaker has recently announced its intention to become an all-electric brand by 2030, starting with the launch of a new electric city car in 2024. The Fiat Panda 4x4, which has been constantly updated and improved over the years, could be one of the models that will undergo this transformation, offering customers a sustainable and smart mobility solution.
