Shared Mobility is rapidly gaining in popularity

Roughly five thousand city dwellers in Germany and Europe were polled by Free Now to determine their current mobility habits. The mobility provider claims that the findings demonstrate a rising desire among Germans to routinely adopt environmentally preferable modes of transportation. It's estimated that 67% of German respondents are open to trying out app-bookable mobility services like e-scooters, e-bikes, e-mopeds, and car sharing.

According to Free Now, recent research indicates that "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS) has one of the most significant potentials for lowering transportation-related emissions. With more people taking advantage of carpooling and other forms of shared transportation, we can cut these costs by as much as 54%. There is a good chance that mobility platforms like Free Now will help us get closer to our climate targets.

The study found that Generation Z shared mobility choices are rising among those born between 1997 and 2012. Those polled put a premium on the time saved in traffic and the reduced private and public costs (due to climate change or improved infrastructure). Also, there is an apparent generational divide; older respondents are more inclined to prefer the more convenient mobility option.

Mobility platforms can make significant contributions to both car-free city centers and carbon neutrality as a whole. Users are becoming more aware of the benefits of shared mobility alternatives, such as lowering the demand for parking spots in our cities, according to Alexander Mönch, Head of Free Now Germany. "With the help of our collaborators, we achieve an intelligent equilibrium between the supply and demand for vehicles, which improves the effectiveness of urban transportation. By 2030, we will have pioneered the provision of local, zero-emission mobility across all significant European markets through our mobility platform."

Demand for Free Now's environmentally friendly transportation solutions has increased in all regions this year. In Germany, the number of trips taken by electric vehicles has climbed by over 153% since 2021. This year, Lisbon and Hamburg were the most popular e-tour destinations on the platform. The company claims that since 2019, when it converted to electromobility, it has saved around 105,600 beeches' worth of CO2 emissions. @via Free Now.
