Friedrich Geiger was the mastermind behind the design of the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, which was available in both a retractable fabric roof and a hardtop option. The 230 SL quickly became a hit among car enthusiasts with its sleek and stylish exterior.

Performance and Evolution

In 1966, the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL was replaced by the 250 SL, which boasted a larger engine displacement of 2,496 cc and increased torque, enabling it to reach 100 km/h in 10 seconds.
Two years later, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 280 SL model, which was equipped with a powerful 2.8-liter engine that developed 170 hp and could reach 100 km/h in just 9 seconds. The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL also featured a brake regulator, and larger front and rear disc brakes, significantly improving it over its predecessors.
Legacy and Collectability
After producing a total of 48,912 models, the Mercedes-Benz W113 series was retired in 1971. However, the legacy of this legendary car continues to live on today, with models from the W113 series being highly sought after by collectors. In fact, collectors are willing to pay as much as €156,000 for a Mercedes-Benz 280 SL in perfect condition, demonstrating the timeless appeal of this classic car.
