Honda's Alabama Team Unveils the 2026 Passport and Passport TrailSport

Honda Passport

Honda's Lincoln, Alabama plant has commenced production of the all-new 2026 Honda Passport and its rugged counterpart, the Passport TrailSport. These models showcase Honda's dedication to blending off-road capability with on-road comfort.

Design and Dimensions

The 2026 Passport features a bold design inspired by the "Born Wild" concept. Key design elements include:

  • Increased ground clearance: 8.3 inches for enhanced off-road performance.
  • Shorter front overhang: Improved approach angle of 23 degrees.
  • Distinctive front fascia: "PASSPORT" stamped prominently.
  • Matte black rear roof section: Unique to the TrailSport variant.

The wheelbase has been extended by 2.8 inches, and the vehicle is 1.4 inches wider, providing more interior space.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, both models are equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, delivering:

  • Horsepower: 285 hp at 6,100 rpm.
  • Torque: 262 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm.

This engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system is standard, offering improved torque capacity and response time.

Off-Road Enhancements

The Passport TrailSport is tailored for off-road enthusiasts, featuring:

  • All-terrain tires: 275/60R-18 General Grabber for superior grip.
  • Off-road tuned suspension: Enhanced stability on uneven terrains.
  • Steel skid plates: Protection for underbody components.
  • Heavy-duty recovery hooks: Increased towing and recovery capabilities.

These features ensure the TrailSport is ready for challenging trails.

Interior Features and Technology

Inside, the Passport offers a blend of comfort and advanced technology:

  • Digital Instrumentation: 10.2-inch digital driver display.
  • Infotainment System: 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility.
  • Seating: Heated front seats with power adjustments; TrailSport Elite adds ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
  • Storage: Expanded cabin space with innovative storage solutions, including a two-tier door bin and a large console bin.

These amenities cater to both daily commutes and adventurous journeys.

Safety and Driver-Assistance

Honda prioritizes safety with the inclusion of the Honda Sensing suite, offering:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System: Assists in avoiding frontal collisions.
  • Forward Collision Warning: Alerts drivers of potential obstacles ahead.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System: Helps maintain lane position.
  • Traffic Jam Assist: Eases driving in congested traffic.

Additionally, new front passenger and driver knee airbags enhance occupant protection.

Trim Levels and Pricing

The 2026 Honda Passport is available in three trims:

  1. RTL: Starting at $46,200.
  2. Honda Passport TrailSport: Starting at $49,900.
  3. TrailSport Elite: Starting at $53,900.

Each trim offers a unique set of features to cater to diverse preferences.

Fuel Efficiency

The Passport's fuel economy varies by trim:

  • RTL: 21 mpg combined (19 city / 25 highway).
  • TrailSport: 20 mpg combined (18 city / 23 highway).

These figures ensure a balance between performance and efficiency.
