Renault puts a price on its next-generation workhorse. The Renault Trafic Van E-Tech electric starts at €41,500 excluding VAT in France, pairing a 60 kWh battery with Advance trim. Renault announced pricing on October 2026, but buyers seeking that entry price must wait until early 2027.
French Prices: Two Batteries, Two Trims
The following prices cover 3.2-tonne maximum laden weight versions with the 11 kW AC charger.
| Configuration | 60 kWh | 81 kWh | Battery upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| L1 Advance | €41,500 | €47,000 | €5,500 |
| L1 Extra | €43,500 | €49,000 | €5,500 |
| L2 Advance | €42,500 | €48,000 | €5,500 |
| L2 Extra | €44,500 | €50,000 | €5,500 |
All prices exclude VAT. Renault charges €800 extra for the 3.5-tonne maximum laden weight version. Orders for the 81 kWh long-range battery open in the coming weeks; 60 kWh orders follow in early 2027.
Advance includes a heat pump, adaptive cruise control and a reversing camera. Extra adds automatic air conditioning, a mobile office and 230V V2L sockets for external equipment.
Range and Charging: What €5,500 Buys
Renault targets 350 km WLTP range with 60 kWh and 470 km with 81 kWh. City-cycle figures reach 510 km and 690 km respectively, pending final homologation. By comparison, the larger battery adds 120 km of combined-cycle range, roughly 34%, for a 13.3% increase over the L1 Advance entry price.
The 800V architecture supports 190 kW DC charging with the 81 kWh battery. Renault claims up to 280 km of combined-cycle range recovery in 20 minutes. Higher voltage reduces current for a given power level, helping control resistive losses during rapid charging.
Load Space: Choose Length Before Equipment
Renault's dedicated electric platform places the motor at the rear and minimises the front overhang. Its 150 kW motor produces 345 Nm; the packaging prioritises cargo space within a compact footprint.
| Measurement | L1 | L2 |
|---|---|---|
| Overall length | 4,870 mm | 5,270 mm |
| Body width | 1,920 mm | 1,920 mm |
| Cargo volume | 5.1 m³ | 5.8 m³ |
Specifically, L2 adds 400 mm of wheelbase and 0.7 m³ of cargo volume for €1,000. Renault quotes maximum payload and towing capacities of 1,300 kg and 2,000 kg across the range; check the selected version's limits.
Which Trafic Electric Should Your Business Buy?
Choose 60 kWh for predictable local routes with overnight charging. Consider 81 kWh when longer runs or limited charging access justify the premium. Renault claims up to 10% lower total ownership costs than a comparable diesel, but your tariffs and utilisation determine savings.
Pro-Tips:
- Test a loaded route in cold weather before sizing the battery; WLTP City figures do not predict motorway range.
- Compare finance, charger installation, electricity, maintenance and downtime costs over the same ownership period.
