A Heritage Model With Purpose
BMW has revealed the 2026 BMW M850i Edition M Heritage, a collector-focused flagship that blends historical 8 Series cues with the latest M performance engineering. Limited to 500 units worldwide, the model will be sold only as the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe.
Production and Availability
Production of the M850i Edition M Heritage starts in November 2025 at BMW’s facilities. Deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2026.
- Global production limit: 500 units
- U.S. allocation: expected to be a small share of the total run
- MSRP: $130,400 USD plus $1,175 destination and handling
- Configuration: Fully equipped, single specification; buyers choose only exterior color
Due to its small allocation, customers will need to place deposits early to secure a build slot. Historically, BMW’s limited-production M models have sold out before production begins.
Historic Paint Options Return
BMW is reviving five original E31 8 Series colors from 1989:
- Bright Red
- Mauritius Blue metallic
- Cosmos Black metallic
- Oxford Green metallic
- Daytona Violet metallic
These BMW Individual finishes are included in the price. Every car also receives a carbon fiber roof with M division tri-color accent stripes, a visual link to BMW Motorsport history.
Exterior Details That Signal Rarity
The Edition M Heritage’s exterior package is built around the M Sport Professional package, adding functional and visual upgrades:
- 20-inch Orbit Grey dual-spoke alloy wheels (Style 895M)
- Summer performance tires – 245/35 R20 front, 285/30 R20 rear
- M Sport brakes with black calipers
- M Shadowline headlights
- Extended Shadowline trim
The stance is low and wide, with 5.0 inches of ground clearance and a 41.3-foot turning diameter for maneuverability.
Interior: Exclusive and Fully Loaded
The cabin features M Sport seats in BMW Individual Black Full Merino Leather and Alcantara with a diamond-pattern stitch. Alcantara extends to the headliner, dashboard, and upper door panels, giving the interior a motorsport feel.
Key interior highlights:
- M tri-color stitching on seats, door panels, and seat belts
- Non-illuminated M badges in headrests
- Matte-finish carbon fiber center console
- Glass shift lever and glass iDrive controller
- “M850i Edition M Heritage” and “1/500” script on cupholder cover and doorsills
- Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System
- Driving Assistance Professional Package included
Seating for five passengers and 15.5 cubic feet of luggage space keeps it functional for grand touring.
Powertrain: V8 Muscle With GT Comfort
The Edition M Heritage uses BMW’s proven 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8.
