Mazda has unveiled its latest addition to the SUV lineup, the 2025 Mazda CX-70. This midsize crossover is based on the same platform as the larger Mazda CX-90 but offers a more compact and sporty design with two rows of seats. The CX-70 comes standard with all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a head-up display, a digital gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 is designed to deliver a premium driving experience with its electrified powertrains and sophisticated chassis. The CX-70 uses a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to boost the performance and efficiency of the 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, which is available in two states of tune: 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, or 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid option pairs a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with an electric motor and a 13.8-kWh battery pack, resulting in a combined output of 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid can also travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone and has a total range of 400 miles.
The CX-70 features an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels via a standard all-wheel-drive system. It also offers different driving modes, including Sport, Off-Road, Towing, and EV, to suit different road conditions and driver preferences. When properly equipped, the CX-70 can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The fuel economy ratings of the 2025 Mazda CX-70 have not been announced yet, but we expect them to be competitive with other midsize SUVs in the market. The plug-in hybrid option should offer the best efficiency, while the more powerful S trims should sacrifice some mpgs for more performance.
