Garmin's new inReach Messenger with satellite communications and a smartphone app

Garmin's new inReach Messenger

Outdoorspeople in the Alps or the middle of the Amazon need reliable safety equipment. Garmin's inReach technology has been giving customers peace of mind for years, especially when they're away from a cellular network. The inReach Messenger, now improved with the new Garmin Messenger software, is the perfect tool for outdoor enthusiasts who still want to keep in touch with loved ones even when they're far from a wireless signal. The device can be associated with your smartphone for easy and convenient communication. Then, the Garmin Messenger software will decide whether to use cellular, satellite, or Wi-Fi for sending messages and sharing locations. The inReach Messenger guarantees that every single text or group message sent to and received from a contact in your inReach device's address book goes through without a hitch. Using the inReach Messenger and its companion app, users may send an SOS message instantly and anywhere in the world to Garmin's round-the-clock international rescue center, the International Emergency Response Coordination Center (IERCC).

Thanks to the inReach Messenger, adventurers may give complete attention to their journey while still keeping in touch with loved ones back home. Syncing the phone's address book with the companion software makes it simple to send and receive text messages, share content on social media, and keep in touch with fellow outdoor enthusiasts over a mobile or WLAN connection, if one is available. Even if your friends and family back home don't have an inReach device, you can still stay in touch with them with the Garmin Messenger app. When cellular or Wi-Fi networks are out of range, the inReach Messenger switches to the 100% global Iridium satellite network.

The inReach Messenger can operate independently of a linked smartphone. Suppose you want to disconnect from technology by going on a hike. In that case, you may still keep in touch with friends and family back home by storing their contact information on the device and sending them regular updates on your whereabouts, activities, and status.

Whether on the land, sea or in the air, outdoor excursions are fraught with potential for the unexpected. In an emergency, however, help is permanently at hand, thanks to the SOS button on the inReach Messenger. The IERCC emergency response center can contact the inReach Messenger user and alert local search and rescue teams and other responders to an emergency. Furthermore, it maintains two-way communication with the person in danger, updates the saved emergency contacts on the rescue's progress, and keeps the individual in danger apprised of the situation.

With the new "Always Power" feature from Garmin, the inReach Messenger can be connected to a smartphone to recharge its battery, allowing the user to continue sending texts through the Garmin Messenger app even if the phone's battery dies during a lengthy tour.

Using the default settings, the new inReach Messenger has a battery life of up to 28 days, which is more than enough time to impress outdoor enthusiasts. Almost 114 grams in weight and 3.1 by 2.5 centimeters in size, the portable device may be carried easily and provide a constant sense of safety. The inReach Messenger can be submerged in water up to one meter deep for 30 minutes, thanks to its IPX7 water resistance rating. The inReach Messenger can be associated with and controlled by more than 80 different Garmin products, including smartwatches, handhelds, GPS navigation devices, and much more, allowing you to get the most out of your adventures and document them in detail.
