Stellantis is moving towards an era of ecological production

Stellantis has released a comprehensive strategy for its Stellantis Circular Economy Group. It is projected that the new division will bring in over €2 billion in revenue by 2030, helping the corporation reach its lofty goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2038.

The Circular Economy Business Unit, one of seven revealed in the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, is expanding its 360-degree approach to sustainability through the 4Rs strategy of remanufacturing, repair, reuse, and recycling. The corporation fulfills its ethical obligation to future generations while also generating money.

"Stellantis is pushing a sustainable and lucrative business on circular economy principles in all markets," said Alison Jones, senior vice president Circular Economy Business Unit at Stellantis. "Our current tasks are well within the capabilities of our seasoned coworkers and trustworthy partners. We have continually increased our capabilities, teams, and facilities using our 4R philosophy to manage material shortages better and reach our carbon neutrality objective."

The Circular Economy Business Unit's primary focus is on reusing and recycling materials and old automobiles to manufacturing brand-new vehicles and other items. The new Citroen OLI [all-e] is an adaptable family car that combines lightweight and recycled materials, sustainable production processes, affordability, durability for extended life, and responsible end-of-life recyclability. This methodology complements the design principles for the circular economy surrounding this vehicle.

Stellantis has created a full-circle, all-inclusive business model based on the 4Rs principle. These include remanufacturing, refurbishment, reuse, and recycling. A healthy, functioning ecosystem is crucial to conserving Earth's finite resources.

Plans for Stellantis' Circular Economy Business Unit include massive growth in sales and international expansion. Constant improvement and reeducation in response to emerging technology are assured.

Circular economy

Stellantis has announced that the Mirafiori property in Italy will be the location of its world-class circular economy center in 2023. Stellantis' current activities can now be expanded, and the pan-European cradle-to-cradle business model can receive more assistance. Vehicles can be brought in to be refurbished, disassembled, and their parts remanufactured at this facility. There are plans for much more worldwide expansion. In 2016, the division acquired Aramis, a European leader in the online buying and selling of used automobiles of various manufacturers, which will (by the end of the year) have seven of its 4R centers strategically positioned across West - and Central Europe, furthering the division's goals.

The company will utilize Circular Economy Centers and local circles to expedite the movement of products and materials within countries. Stellantis-branded vehicles' crucial spare parts, like B. starters and alternators, are remanufactured, distributed, and sold by over 1,000 local dealers, bolstering the circular economy and the aim of carbon neutrality.

Stellantis' strategy plan for its Circular Economy Business Unit seeks to treble revenue from extended life parts and services and boost recycling revenue by tenfold by 2030 compared to 2021; therefore, this is an essential step in achieving those goals.

The SUSTAINera badge for spare parts and accessories, which verifies material and energy savings of up to 80% and 50%, respectively, compared to corresponding new components, is being introduced as part of the new business sector's growth into the circular economy. For each product family, the best-selling item's value is calculated by a life cycle study validated by third-party firm Sphera.

To protect the environment through less waste and lower consumption of our planet's resources, "the SUSTAINera label represents our promise to offer customers sustainable, transparent, and affordable products and services for all vehicle brands without compromising on quality," explained Alison Jones.

The SUSTAINera label was chosen from hundreds of recommendations by Stellantis employees and represents one of the group's fundamental values: creating a better future as a responsible corporation and guiding in a new era of sustainability.
