Mahindra, one of India’s largest automakers, has unveiled a new electric vehicle concept that could rival Tesla in the global EV market. The Mahindra BE 07 is a sleek and futuristic crossover with a spacious interior, a panoramic roof, and a range of advanced technologies.
The concept was revealed at the Auto Expo in New Delhi, where Mahindra also showcased its other EV models, such as the eKUV100 and the eXUV300.
Mahindra claims that the BE 07 can deliver a range of over 500 kilometers (310 miles) on a single charge, thanks to its high-density battery pack and efficient powertrain. The vehicle also boasts a fast-charging capability that can replenish 80% of the battery in just 30 minutes.
The BE 07 is equipped with a digital cockpit that integrates a large touchscreen display, a head-up display, and a wireless charging pad. The vehicle also supports voice and gesture control and biometric authentication for enhanced security and convenience. The concept also features various safety and driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and collision avoidance.
Mahindra says that the BE 07 is designed to offer a premium and comfortable driving experience, with ample legroom, headroom, and storage space. The vehicle also has a modular platform that can accommodate different body styles and configurations.
Mahindra plans to launch the BE 07 in India by 2024, followed by other markets in Asia, Europe, and North America.
The company has not disclosed the price or specifications of the production version yet, but it is expected to be competitive with other EVs in its segment.
Mahindra is not new to the EV industry. The company acquired Reva Electric Car Company in 2010 and renamed it Mahindra Electric Mobility. Since then, Mahindra has been developing and selling electric vehicles in India and abroad. The company also has a stake in Pininfarina, an Italian design firm that has created the Battista, a hypercar that can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds. Mahindra is also involved in Formula E, the electric racing series showcasing the latest EV technology innovations.
