Lufthansa Cargo has achieved record results for the third time in a row, with a sales increase of 22% to 4.6 billion euros in the 2022 financial year. The adjusted EBIT increased to 1.6 billion euros, demonstrating the great commitment of its employees and the trust of its customers and partners. The resumption of numerous passenger flights has expanded the capacity and route offer, making up around half of Lufthansa Cargo's transport capacities. Lufthansa Cargo consistently pursues its successful strategy with an expanding freighter fleet, digital services, and sustainable logistics solutions.
Expanding the Fleet and Digital Services
Lufthansa Cargo invested in expanding its freighter fleet, which now consists of 16 Boeing 777F and two Airbus A321F. To further expand the capacity of its long-haul fleet, Lufthansa Cargo has ordered three B777Fs with the latest technology and seven B777-8Fs from the next generation of Boeing freighters. The company relies on Boeing's efficient twin-jet aircraft to achieve its goal. The expansion of the fleet has enabled Lufthansa Cargo to increase frequencies to high-demand intercontinental destinations such as China and India and to open a new freighter station in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Lufthansa Cargo has also focused on expanding its digital services to provide more efficient and convenient customer service. The company succeeded in 2022 in expanding digital sales channels and making handling processes more efficient thanks to digitalization. With the increasing demand for e-commerce, Lufthansa Cargo has introduced fast transport solutions for customers from the fast-growing e-commerce segment on short and medium-haul routes. The company commissioned two Airbus A321F freighters in 2022 to offer these solutions for the first time.
