How Kia EV9 Became the Luxury Car of the Year in Germany

How Kia EV9 Became the Luxury Car of the Year in Germany

The Kia EV9 is a game-changer in the electric vehicle market. It's a three-row SUV with stunning performance, long-range, cutting-edge technology, and luxurious comfort. It's also the first Kia model to win the prestigious Luxury Car of the Year 2024 award from the German Car of the Year jury.

This is a remarkable achievement for the Korean automaker, which has been steadily expanding its presence and reputation in the global market. The Kia EV9 managed to outshine some of the world's most renowned and expensive luxury cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the BMW 7 Series, and the Audi A8. How did it do that? Let's look at what makes the Kia EV9 so special.

A Powerful and Efficient Machine

The Kia EV9 is not your average SUV. It's a beast that can unleash 379 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque from its dual-motor all-wheel drive system. That's enough to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds, which is faster than some sports cars.

But the Kia EV9 is not just about speed. It's also about efficiency and range. Thanks to its advanced 800-volt architecture and its massive 113 kWh battery pack, the Kia EV9 can travel up to 300 miles on a single charge. That's more than enough for most daily commutes and road trips.

And when it needs to recharge, it can do so in a flash. Using a DC fast charger, the Kia EV9 can go from 10% to 80% battery level in just 24 minutes. That's faster than most smartphones. And if you can't find a fast charger nearby, you can also use a regular 240-volt outlet to charge it overnight.

The Kia EV9 also has a smart heat pump system that helps preserve its range in cold weather conditions. This system uses waste heat from the battery and other components to warm up the cabin and reduce the need for electric heating. This way, you can enjoy a cozy ride without sacrificing your battery life.

And if you ever need some extra juice for your camping trip or tailgating party, you can use the onboard power generator to turn your Kia EV9 into a mobile power source. This feature allows you to plug various devices and appliances into the vehicle's outlets and use its battery as a backup generator. You can even share your power with another electric vehicle using the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.

A Smart and Comfortable Cabin

The Kia EV9 is not only a powerful and efficient machine but also a smart and comfortable one. Inside, you'll find a digital cockpit that features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. These screens provide you with all the necessary information and entertainment, such as navigation, media, climate control, and more.

You'll also find a host of advanced driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, surround-view camera, and more. These features help you drive safer and easier by alerting you of potential hazards and assisting you with steering, braking, and parking.

The Kia EV9 also offers some unique features that enhance its luxury appeal. For instance, it has power-operated second-row executive captain's seats that offer legroom rivaling ultra-luxury SUVs. These seats are adjustable in multiple ways and have heating, cooling, and massage functions.

It also has first- and second-row relaxation seats that recline at the push of a button, even providing a power leg rest. These seats are perfect for taking a nap or enjoying entertainment on the rear-seat entertainment system, which features dual 10.1-inch touchscreens.

And if you want to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine, you can open the panoramic sunroof that spans the entire length of the cabin. This sunroof lets in natural light and creates a spacious, airy atmosphere inside the vehicle.

The Kia EV9 also has plenty of space for passengers and cargo. It can seat up to seven people in three rows of seats. The third row can be folded flat to create more room for luggage or equipment. The Kia EV9 also has a swivel seat feature that allows the second row to rotate 180 degrees and face the third row. This can create a more social and interactive atmosphere inside the vehicle.

A Reasonable Price and Warranty

The Kia EV9 is expected to go on sale in late 2023 as a 2024 model-year vehicle. No official pricing is available yet, but the base model will start at around $56,000. That may sound like a lot of money for a Kia, but keep in mind that this is not your average Kia. This luxury car can compete with some of the best in the segment.

And if you're worried about reliability or maintenance costs, don't be. The Kia EV9 comes with Kia's industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile limited warranty that also covers the battery pack. That means you can enjoy your Kia EV9 for a long time without worrying about any major issues or expenses.

The Bottom Line

The Kia EV9 is a remarkable vehicle that deserves all the praise and recognition it has received. It's an all-electric SUV that offers power, range, technology, comfort, space, and style. It's also a luxury car that can challenge some of the most established and respected brands in the market. And it's a Kia that proves that the Korean automaker can do anything it sets its mind to.

The Kia EV9 is not just another electric vehicle. It's a movement that inspires.
