Hyundai KONA: A Small SUV With a Big Personality

Hyundai KONA

The Hyundai KONA is not your typical small SUV. It’s bold, quirky, and fun to drive. It’s also packed with features, technology, and safety that make it a great choice for urban adventurers. Whether you opt for the gas-powered or the electric version, the Hyundai KONA will surprise you with its versatility, efficiency, and personality.

Design: Stand Out From The Crowd

The Hyundai KONA is not afraid to be different. Its exterior design is eye-catching and distinctive, with a split-headlight design, a cascading grille, and a range of vibrant colors to choose from. The KONA also has a sporty stance, with black cladding around the wheel arches, roof rails, and a rear spoiler. The KONA looks like it’s ready for any adventure.

The interior of the KONA is equally stylish and functional. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The cargo space is also generous, with up to 19.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and up to 45.8 cubic feet with them folded down. The KONA also offers clever storage solutions, such as a hidden compartment under the trunk floor, a wireless charging pad for your phone, and multiple cup holders and USB ports.

The Hyundai KONA also lets you customize your interior with different color accents, such as lime green, orange, or red. You can also choose from various upholstery options, such as cloth, leather, or a combination of both. The KONA also features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that displays important information such as speed, fuel level, battery charge, and driving modes. The KONA also has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, navigation, and more.

Performance: Fun And Efficient

The Hyundai KONA offers two engine options for the gas-powered version: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque or a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are smooth and responsive, but the turbocharged one adds more punch and excitement to the driving experience.

The Hyundai KONA also offers an all-electric version that boasts an impressive range of 258 miles on a single charge. The electric motor generates 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, which makes the KONA EV quick and agile on the road. The KONA EV also has a regenerative braking system that helps extend the battery life by capturing energy from deceleration. The KONA EV can be charged using a standard 120-volt outlet, a 240-volt outlet, or a fast-charging station.

The Hyundai KONA also handles well on different road conditions, thanks to its available all-wheel-drive system that improves traction and stability. The Hyundai KONA also has three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport. Each driving mode adjusts the throttle response, steering feel, transmission shift points, and suspension settings to suit your driving style and preferences.

Technology: Smart And Connected

The Hyundai KONA is not only fun to drive but also smart and connected. It comes with a host of advanced technology features that make your life easier and safer on the road. Some of these features include:

  • A head-up display that projects key information such as speed, navigation directions, lane departure warning, blind-spot collision warning, and more on the windshield.
  • A wireless smartphone charging pad that lets you charge your smartphone without any cords or cables.
  • A Harman Kardon premium sound system that delivers crisp and clear sound through eight speakers and a subwoofer.
  • A Blue Link connected car system that lets you remotely start, lock, unlock, locate, and monitor your KONA using your smartphone, smartwatch, or voice assistant.
  • A Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go that automatically maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and can stop and resume driving in traffic.
  • A Lane Following Assist that helps keep the KONA centered in its lane by applying gentle steering corrections.
  • A Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection that warns you of potential collisions and can apply the brakes if necessary.
  • A Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist that alerts you of vehicles approaching from the side when backing up and can apply the brakes if necessary.

Price And Warranty: Affordable And Reliable

The Hyundai KONA is not only a great small SUV but also an affordable one. The gas-powered KONA starts at $21,300 for the base SE trim and goes up to $29,750 for the top-of-the-line Ultimate trim. The Hyundai KONA electric SUV starts at $37,390 for the base SEL trim and goes up to $45,600 for the top-of-the-line Limited trim. These prices are competitive with other small SUVs in the market, such as the Honda HR-V, the Mazda CX-30, and the Kia Soul.

The Hyundai KONA also comes with a generous warranty that covers 10 years or 100,000 miles for the powertrain, 5 years or 60,000 miles for the new vehicle, and 3 years or 36,000 miles for complimentary maintenance.
