The All-New Hyundai Ioniq 6: The Future of Sustainable and Mindful Driving

Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai's Ioniq 6 made its North American debut at the 2022 AutoMobility Los Angeles, and the upcoming release of this four-door electrified streamliner with a targeted driving range of 340 miles is already generating a buzz. As part of Hyundai's plan to introduce 17 BEV models and sell more than 1.8 million BEV units worldwide by 2030, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be available in the US in spring 2023. Hyundai's President and CEO, José Muñoz, said, "Hyundai Ioniq 6 fits the image, efficiency, and sportiness that many owners desire." With this EV model's unique design, spacious interior, sustainable materials, and advanced features, it is well-positioned to compete in the EV market for the millions of shoppers interested in transitioning to zero-emissions transportation.

Design Characteristics that Embody Lifestyle

Hyundai believes a vehicle should embody lifestyle, which is why each Ioniq vehicle has unique design characteristics. SangYup Lee, executive vice president and head of Hyundai Design Center, said, "Depending on the owner's lifestyle, the way of using a vehicle will be different, resulting in a different look - much like chess pieces on a board, each one with a distinct look and functionality, but part of the same family." The Ioniq 6's design is different from the Ioniq 5's, but they share common threads like Living Space, Parametric Pixels, and Sustainability. Living Space is built on the E-GMP's long wheelbase, which provides unparalleled passenger and cargo room and optimizes driving dynamics. The Parametric Pixel is Ioniq's key differentiator, while Sustainability is seen in the materials used for the interior and exterior, making Ioniq an unrivaled sustainable volume brand.

Sleek-Curved Streamliner Design that Harmonizes Functionality and Aesthetics

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an electrified streamliner that perfectly combines functionality and aesthetics, simultaneously satisfying the customer's aesthetic and functional needs. The aerodynamically sculpted silhouette has simple yet sensuous curves that offer a new typology for the EV mobility era. The Ioniq 6 has an extended 116-inch wheelbase and an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.22, making it an aerodynamic masterpiece. Its Parametric Pixels are found in more than 700 places, reinforcing the Ioniq brand identity. The interior is spacious and serves as both a comfortable hideaway and personal space, with practical features and sustainable materials that facilitate a mindful, eco-friendly mobility experience and lifestyle.

Sustainable Materials and Advanced Features

Hyundai's Ioniq 6 is trimmed in sustainable materials, such as eco-process leather seats, recycled PET fabric seats, bio TPO skin dashboards, bio PET fabric headliners, and bio-paint derived from vegetable oils. It even has a Hyundai-first: recycled fishing net carpets. The exterior features recycled pigment paint from end-of-life tires, making the Hyundai Ioniq 6 a sustainable and eco-friendly vehicle. The Ioniq 6's advanced features include best-in-class ultra-fast charging, which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The vehicle is also equipped with dual motors, all-wheel drive capability, a 12.3-inch full-touch infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch digital cluster under one piece of glass. The dual-color ambient lighting provides overall illumination for the interior, and users can choose from a spectrum of 64 colors and six-dual color themes developed by color experts to help drivers and passengers feel relaxed.

Best-in-Class Ultra-Fast Charging

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 comes equipped with best-in-class ultra-fast charging capabilities, enabling drivers to charge their battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. This is made possible by the car's 800V electrical architecture, which is twice the voltage of most EVs today. This allows for faster charging times and reduced downtime, making it easier and more convenient for drivers to take longer trips with fewer stops.

In addition, the Ioniq 6 features a range of over 340 miles on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range electric vehicles available. This is made possible by the car's efficient electric drivetrain and aerodynamic design, which helps to reduce drag and improve efficiency.

Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP)

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is built on Hyundai's exclusive Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which allows for dual motors, more interior space, and optimized performance. This platform is designed specifically for electric vehicles and provides a number of advantages over traditional platforms.

One of the key benefits of the E-GMP platform is its ability to accommodate dual motors, which provides all-wheel drive capabilities and improved performance. In addition, the platform features a long wheelbase, which provides unparalleled passenger and cargo space while also optimizing driving dynamics.

Hyundai's Plan for the Future

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is part of Hyundai's broader plan to introduce 17 new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models and sell more than 1.8 million BEV units worldwide by 2030. This ambitious plan reflects Hyundai's commitment to sustainable mobility and its belief in the future of electric vehicles.

As part of this plan, Hyundai is also investing in new battery technologies and charging infrastructure to ensure that its vehicles remain at the forefront of the industry. This includes the development of solid-state batteries, which are expected to provide an even greater range and faster charging times than current lithium-ion batteries.

Conclusion

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a truly impressive electric vehicle, combining sleek, modern design with advanced technology and best-in-class performance. With its long-range, fast-charging capabilities, and spacious, eco-friendly interior, it's well-positioned to compete in the growing EV market and meet the needs of drivers looking to make the switch to zero-emissions transportation.

As more and more automakers make the transition to electric vehicles, Hyundai's commitment to sustainability and its investment in new technologies and infrastructure will ensure that it remains a leader in the industry for years to come. The Ioniq 6 is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future for Hyundai and the electric vehicle market as a whole. @via Hyundai.
