The 2023 Lexus RX with better safety and technology

2023 Lexus RX luxury crossover

With the introduction of the original RX more than 20 years ago, Lexus established the luxury crossover market. At the Lexus New Product Showcase, Lexus unveiled the new RX for the first time. The Lexus RX returns with various electrified powertrains, which is fitting given that Lexus was the first luxury label to offer a hybrid in the segment. The fifth-generation Lexus RX features a complete redesign, from wheels to roof rails. It rides on a brand-new global platform and comes with various new features like the Digital Key, Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, and Lexus Interface Multimedia System.

The redesigned 2023 Lexus model strives for a new look and feels while retaining the RX's signature qualities. These include a serene cabin, a smooth ride, superior handling, and a fun car to drive.

According to Andrew Gilleland, group vice president, and general manager of the Lexus Division, the 2023 Lexus RX has been redesigned as part of the company's Next Chapter for Lexus products. "We're giving the best-in-class RX a new lease on life with better safety and technology, a design that puts people first, and performance that can't be beaten from a wide range of powertrains."

The iconic Lexus spindle design is the basis for the 2023 RX's evolution into a new, cohesive spindle body design. The solid mass is a symbol of this sleek, dynamic design. The seamless grille and headlight integration that are hallmarks of the new spindle body design result from painstaking sculpting. The mature, planted stance achieves a low center of gravity, while the 19-inch wheels with a dark gray machined finish draw the eye. For those who want a bolder look, 21-inch wheels are available in luxury color variations. The three-dimensional surface has a sharp outward curve from the back door toward the tire, suggesting strong traction from the back motor. The Lexus RX keeps the L-shaped light bar lamp from the previous generation, but now the lenses extend out to the sides of the vehicle, giving the impression of a broader, more robust profile.

Overall, the 2023 RX will come in at least six trim levels: base, premium, premium+, luxury, F SPORT handling, and F SPORT performance.

Depending on the trim level, the 2023 Lexus RX will come in one of ten colors: Ultra White, Eminent White Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl, Iridium, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Copper Crest, Nori Green Pearl, Nightfall Mica, and Grecian Water.

An integral part of the Lexus Driving Signature philosophy, the RX's interior follows a deliberate, human-centered design, with control surfaces tuned to enable a deeper and more intuitive connection to instill confidence and control in the driver. A touch of the e-Latch system opens the door. Inside, the RX greets the driver with a panorama glass roof, multi-colored illumination accents, and various tasteful door trim options that conjure up relaxing, open-space images. The steering wheel's controls, head-up display (HUD), navigation system, and audio system, all of which can be adjusted by the driver, have been laid out in a streamlined fashion to keep them focused on the road. The RX comes with the Lexus Interface and a trial period. A 14-inch Multimedia Touchscreen Display can be added for an extra cost.

The interior of the 2023 Lexus RX will be available in six different colors, with four different ornamentation patterns available across four trim levels. Macadamia, Black, Birch, Palomino, Peppercorn, and Rioja Red are some examples of interior colors. Black Cascade, Ash Bamboo, Black Open Pore, and Dark Graphite Aluminum are some of the ornamentation types available.

The new GA-K platform from RX has an extremely low center of gravity and balanced load distribution. Material optimization in the primary framework components of the chassis and the new global platform enables the all-new RX to be up to 198 pounds lighter than the previous generation. Additionally, the ride comfort and silence that are hallmarks of the Lexus Driving Signature have been improved through these same means of reduced weight and increased rigidity. The new RX has a longer wheelbase and a shorter rear overhang than the outgoing model but is otherwise the same length. Due to its connection to the rigid high-torsion rear body frame, the new platform's multi-link rear suspension gives more consistent input and travel when speeding up, slowing down, or turning.

To better suit a wide spectrum of customers, the new Lexus RX will be available with four powertrains, one of which is a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). In line with the Lexus Electrified mission, the RX represents the latest step forward in the company's commitment to developing, disseminating knowledge, and accepting the idea that electrified vehicles can deliver thrilling performance. To do this, Lexus RX will serve as a global core model that is close to the needs and preferences of its guests, which are constantly changing. This will make it easier to create a society without carbon emissions.

The Lexus RX 500h F SPORT Performance is the first Lexus vehicle to feature a new hybrid system, which combines a high-torque 2.4-liter turbo engine, six-speed automatic transmission, inverter, and electric motor in the front unit with a high-output electric motor, inverter, and reduction gearbox in the eAxle unit in the back. The electric motor's low-end torque contributes to the vehicle's enhanced performance and brisk acceleration thanks to this set-up. The turbocharged engine consistently puts out torque, which gives the car powerful acceleration from low speeds up to its top speed.

The DIRECT4 drivetrain is used in the Lexus RX 500h F SPORT Performance, which is our cutting-edge method for controlling our most cutting-edge all-wheel drive systems. DIRECT4 AWD ensures that the eAxles always have the best grip, traction, and acceleration.

The Lexus RX 500h F SPORT Performance grade is a first for the RX lineup, taking the F SPORT design package to a new level of sportiness and performance focus. The Lexus RX 500h has a wide, confident stance thanks to its mesh grille, front bumper, and 21-inch aluminum wheels, all of which contribute to the vehicle's aerodynamic performance.

Several F SPORT details can be found inside, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, suede-wrapped interior doors, a scuff plate with the F SPORT logo, leather upholstery, and aluminum foot pedals.

The reliability of its safety features is a crucial reason for the Lexus RX's popularity. Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, available on the all-new Lexus R (EDSS), includes all-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with a new feature called Curve Speed Management (DRCC); Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist (LDA); and Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS). The available Advanced Park provides increased help for parallel parking. Forward-facing parking is now supported, allowing forward-facing and backward exits from a space.
