Unveiling of the new Hyundai KONA hybrid and electric SUV

Hyundai KONA

Hyundai has done it again! The Korean automaker has introduced the second generation of the KONA, a model that is sure to cause a stir in the market. With a futuristic design, innovative technology, and a wide range of mechanical options, the new Hyundai KONA is sure to be a hit with car enthusiasts across Europe.

The new Hyundai KONA has grown in size compared to the previous model, but its proportions remain compact and refined. Its distinctive design features a marked waistline, a large wedge rib, and voluminous black wheel arches that reinforce its height off the asphalt. The front and rear of the KONA are identical, with a thin band of daytime running lights extending between the ends, while the dipped and road lighting uses Full LED technology housed in vertical casings. The grille design distinguishes the various versions of the KONA.

The interior of the 2023 Hyundai KONA is more spacious, and passengers in the front seats can enjoy two large digital screens of 12.3 inches each, occupying the instrument area and the center console. The dashboard is completely remodeled, with a module for automatic climate control and integrated ventilation nozzles. Even the sporty three-spoke steering wheel adds to the sense of comfort and luxury. The KONA is packed with connectivity and security technology, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring in Side Rear View Mirrors, Safe Exit Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISA), Driver Attention and Fatigue Detection, Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Highway Driving and Lane Keeping Assist, 360º camera, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Parking Collision Avoidance Assistant.

The Hyundai KONA is available in two mechanical options: a self-recharging HEV and an electric version. The HEV comes with a 105 hp 1.6-liter GDI block, complemented by a 32 kW electric motor, for a total power of 141 hp. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 1.56 kWh, and the car is equipped with a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission. On the other hand, the KONA electric has an electric motor on the front axle with maximum powers of 114 kW and 160 kW, equivalent to 156 HP and 218 HP. It has an ion battery with two levels of capacity, 48.4 kWh and 65.4 kWh, and thanks to its 11 kW on-board charger, it can recharge to 80 percent in just 41 minutes. The maximum autonomy of the new KONA electric reaches 460 kilometers, and it has i-PEDAL technology that enables the driver to use a single pedal for driving and regenerative braking, making it incredibly efficient.

The Hyundai KONA is sure to make a splash in the market when it goes on sale in June. While Hyundai has yet to announce the prices and range structure for the new model, it has confirmed that the Hyundai KONA HEV will be produced in South Korea, while the Hyundai KONA Electric will be manufactured in the Czech Republic. With its modern, hybrid and electric SUV options, the KONA is a model to fear in the automotive industry, and we can't wait to see what Hyundai has in store for us next. @via Hyundai.
