Ford announces the Focus ST Track Pack

Ford Focus ST Track Pack

The Track Pack, developed by Ford Performance and thoroughly tested on Ford circuits, is factory-fitted and offered solely for the five-door hatchback's six-speed manual transmission model. The new Track Pack allows drivers to fine-tune the way their Ford Focus ST reacts on the track, thanks to the adjustable suspension developed by KW Automotive, complementing the already excellent dynamics of the new Ford Focus ST, which has a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h provided by the 280 HP 2.3 EcoBoost engine. This technology is used in conjunction with lightweight alloy wheels.

Furthermore, the Track Pack improves braking performance by including 363 mm front brake discs and Brembo brake calipers. Moreover, the tires have been custom-designed to maximize traction in harsh situations.

"Our new Focus ST Track Pack combines cutting-edge technical components to make the hot hatch genuinely capable for track enthusiasts," stated Stefan Muenzinger, Ford Performance manager for Europe. "Adjustable suspension, large brakes, and sticky tires aid in optimizing performance, rigidity, and resistance to high track demands for maximum enjoyment - that's what this car is all about."

The Ford Focus ST Track Pack is now available for order in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, with delivery beginning in November.

The suspension system included with the Track Pack was developed in collaboration with KW Automotive experts and comprised stainless steel shock absorber housings with 12-step compression and 16-step rebound adjustment. Regular users can fine-tune suspension responses and even performance to match their favorite circuits using the two tuning modes.

The shock absorbers work in tandem with new springs up to 50% stiffer. They reduce ground clearance by 10mm compared to a regular Focus ST, reducing the center of gravity and aiding body roll reduction for faster directional shifts, just like a real Ford sports car. Where local legislation permits, drivers can tweak the suspension for an additional 15mm of ground clearance.

The 19-inch alloy wheels are made with a method that compacts the aluminum alloy to boost shock resistance while using less material to create a lighter alloy. This method produces rims that are 10% lighter than normal rims. As a result, the steering reacts faster, and tire contact and grip are improved for greater acceleration, braking, and steering performance. The wheels are supplemented with unique Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, which have been designed for superior grip and performance on the track and on the dry road.

Braking performance has also been enhanced. The front discs are 10% larger in diameter than regular 330mm versions. They are accompanied by four-piston Brembo calipers that improve grip and disperse heat more quickly, minimizing ineffective heat-induced braking during long circuit sessions.

The exterior styling of the Track Pack is much more striking than the standard Focus ST. The high-performance automobile aspect is now much more prominent.

Regardless of body color, the rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and certain pieces of the front spoiler are painted in Agate Black. All three parts contribute to passive aerodynamic effects, which improve downforce and stability.

A 13.2-inch central touchscreen with an intuitive interface is also included in advanced interior technology. It allows drivers to be one or up to two taps away from any app, information, or command they require.

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost petrol engine beneath the hood of the Ford Focus ST produces 280hp at 5,500rpm and 420Nm of peak torque from 3,000rpm to 4,000rpm.

The revolutionary Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD) improves performance by hydraulically activating the clutches to shift up to 100% of available torque to the tire with better traction. The technology adjusts torque proactively based on information received from engine and vehicle sensors, providing faster reaction and more precision than a mechanical LSD.

Drivers can also use two driving modes to manage eLSD, throttle mapping, electronic power steering, and electronic stability control (ESC). A Track mode also provides immediate answers and more ESC system freedom, allowing for more feedback and better driver participation.
