Peugeot has announced that its new 508 and 508 SW models are now available to order in the UK, with deliveries starting soon. The new sedans feature a sleek and sophisticated design, enhanced technology and safety features, and a range of efficient powertrains, including plug-in hybrid options.
The new Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 508 SW are based on the EMP2 platform, allowing for a lower and more aerodynamic body shape and improved handling and comfort. The sedans have a distinctive front end, with a new grille design, full LED headlights with adaptive high beam assist, and Peugeot’s signature claw-effect LED daytime running lights. The rear end also features full LED lights with a 3D effect and a gloss black strip that connects them.
The interior of the new Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 508 SW is equally stylish and refined, with a Peugeot i-Cockpit that combines a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a compact steering wheel with integrated controls. The sedans also offer high comfort and convenience, with features such as heated and massaging front seats, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof (available on the 508 SW only).
The new Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 508 SW are equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, active park assist, and a 360-degree camera. The sedans also feature Night Vision, which uses an infrared camera to detect pedestrians and animals in low-light conditions and alert the driver.
The new 508 and 508 SW are available with three powertrain options: two plug-in hybrid variants and one diesel variant. The plug-in hybrid variants consist of a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and an 11.8 kWh battery pack. The HYBRID variant produces a combined output of 180 horsepower and can travel up to 39 miles on electric power alone. The HYBRID4 variant produces a combined output of 225 horsepower and features an additional electric motor on the rear axle, giving it all-wheel drive capability. It can travel up to 37 miles on electric power alone.
The diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 130 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has a combined fuel consumption of 62.8 mpg (UK) and CO2 emissions of 117 g/km.
The new 508 and 508 SW are offered in four trim levels: Active Premium, Allure, GT and GT Pack. The Active Premium trim level includes features such as dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights and wipers, electric folding mirrors, and alloy wheels. The Allure trim level adds keyless entry and start features, front parking sensors, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, and privacy glass. The GT trim level adds features such as adaptive suspension, active grille shutters, sporty exterior styling elements, Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, and ambient lighting. The GT Pack trim level adds features such as Night Vision system, adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, active park assist, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof (on the 508 SW only), massaging front seats, full LED headlights with adaptive high beam assist, and larger alloy wheels.
The prices for the new Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 508 SW start from $37,500 for the Active Premium HYBRID variant and go up to $54,000 for the GT Pack HYBRID4 variant (converted from GBP at the current exchange rate). The sedans are expected to arrive in UK dealerships in early 2023.
