After introducing the Opel Astra GSe and Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe, Opel has revealed the Grandland GSe, the third model in its new electrified sub-brand. GSe is an abbreviation for "Grand Sport electric."
The combination of dynamics and grippy electric all-wheel drive is aimed at "passionate drivers." "The new Opel Grandland GSe is a dynamic, powerful, and stylish vehicle." "We are confident it will appeal to customers who want an electrified SUV, but also one with a sportier drive system," says Opel CEO Florian Huettl.
The Opel Grandland GSe is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors, one on each axle. As a result, the system output is 221 kW/300 hp. The plug-in hybrid powertrain transforms the Grandland GSe into a "strong athlete with permanent electric all-wheel drive and excellent traction," delivering best-in-class acceleration from a standstill. The new Opel Grandland GSe SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds and can reach a top speed of 235 km/h. The WLTP specifies the fuel consumption as 1.3 l/100 km and the CO2 emissions as 31-29 g/km.
The Grandland GSe's improved dynamics are primarily due to chassis and steering tuning, as with the Astra GSe models. The sportiest Opel SUV is equipped with McPherson struts on the front axle, a multi-link axle at the rear, and firmer springs and dampers with KONI-FSD technology (Frequency Selective Damping). Depending on the situation, this allows for different damping characteristics for handling and comfort. According to Opel, the Grandland GSe responds immediately and directly to any driver command and remains stable when braking, cornering and driving at high speeds on the highway.
The Opel Manta GSe electric concept inspired the 19-inch alloy wheels, a custom rear diffuser, and GSe lettering on the tailgate. The Opel Grandland GSe can be ordered with a black bonnet as an additional distinguishing feature. Inside, the driver and front passenger can relax in Alcantara-trimmed GSe performance seats.
Opel has yet to announce the Opel Grandland GSe's release date and price. The standard Opel Grandland plug-in hybrid SUV starts at 45,695 euros when equipped as standard.
