The Tesla factory in Berlin has completed the approval process

According to a press rumor, the Tesla plant in Brandenburg should receive final certification this week. After that, a date has almost certainly been determined for the official opening and delivery of the first 30 automobiles.

According to Tagesspiegel, the factory's inauguration ceremony will be on March 22 or 23. Elon Musk will also be on hand to personally deliver the first 30 Tesla Model Y Performance to consumers. It is unknown whether Chancellor Olaf Scholz will also attend the around 500-person-strong opening ceremony near Berlin's e-car factory.

The Tagesspiegel refers in its article to the minutes of last Tuesday's Tesla task force meeting. The meeting, which included Brandenburg Minister-President Dietmar Woidke, reportedly lasted about 20 minutes. The minutes state that all parties agreed to "work hard on concluding the approval procedure due to the forum." Final clearance is scheduled for the end of the first week of March. Then, Woidke will probably present Tesla with permission in the state chancellery.

In mid-February, there were still rumors that production in Grünheide would not begin until at least mid-March due to the need for authorities to inspect specific safety procedures at the business. These inspections are necessary before the final clearance.

At the time, however, it was also stated that it might take an additional few weeks from the time permission was granted to the time the operating permit was issued. Nevertheless, according to a recent article in the German Tagesspiegel, at least the Brandenburg State Chancellery is confident that the active license will be published shortly after final approval.

Tesla stated in January that the first Tesla Model Y Performance from Grünheide will arrive in March. After a corresponding change in the configurator indicated such a move, Tesla confirmed the plan internally. If the current opening information is accurate, Tesla may be able to fulfill its March pledge to deliver at least a few electric cars.

Tesla appears to have taken a step forward in Texas with the Gigafactory in Austin: According to sources, only the environmental authority EPA's clearance for sales is still required before the first vehicles made there can be delivered. Tesla is also targeting the end of March to start deliveries in this market. In addition, Tesla Model Y uses the new 4680 battery cells, whereas Tesla  Model Ys manufactured in Grünheide use imported 2170 cells for the time being.
