The new Ford GT LM Edition from $450,000

Ford GT LM Edition

Ford has released the last unique model of the third generation of the Ford GT. The new Ford GT LM Edition is a tribute to the only American race car that has ever won the Le Mans race. The Ford GT won the race in 2016, completing the historic triple win for Ford in 1966. "The Ford GT is different from any other supercar on the market because it uses new materials, design, and technology," said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports. "As a tribute to our 2016 Le Mans wins, we put even more of a race car's spirit on the podium."

The last special model of the Ford GT will only be made in 20 units. This fall, people will start getting the 2022 Ford GT LM Edition cars, and production will end later this year. The model's carbon fiber body is painted Liquid Silver and has a red or blue theme, just like the Ford GT No. 68 that won the Le Mans race.

You can choose red or blue carbon fiber parts showing off how aerodynamically weak the supercar is. The tinted ultra-light parts are the front diffuser, the side wings, and the door sills. The same shade of tint is also on the engine grille, the mirror arms, and the diffuser at the back. The model looks modern because it has shiny carbon fiber wheels 20 inches in diameter and red or blue accents on the sides. It also has titanium bolts and Brembo brake calipers in black.

The Ford GT LM Edition has a unique 3D-printed titanium dual exhaust pipe. The design of the inside of the ends hints at the car's powerful 660-horsepower EcoBoost twin-turbo engine. Also, 3D-printed is the titanium GT LM badge that sits above the exhaust pipes.

The Ford GT LM Edition sports car also has unique parts inside, like carbon fiber seats covered with Alcantara. Depending on the car's color on the outside, the driver's seat is either red or blue. The passenger seat is Ebony Black and has accent stitching in the same color as the driver's seat. The instrument panel is made of leather and Alcantara in ebony, and the pillars and roof are also made of Alcantara in ebony. Matte carbon fiber is also used on the center console, the air vents, and the bottom of the A-pillars.

The Ford Performance team looked for ways to put the spirit of the car that won Le Mans into every supercar that could be driven on the road. They did this to make the Ford GT LM Edition an extraordinary last tribute to the success of the Ford GT sports car model.

The result was that the team found the engine of the third-placed No. 69 Ford GT race car from 2016, which had been taken apart and removed after the race. The crankshaft was milled, and the material was put into a special alloy that was made just for this model. This alloy is used to make the 3D-printed badge that goes on the dashboard of each particular model.

The 2022 Ford GT LM Edition celebrates the third-generation supercar's overall win at the 2016 Le Mans race and the No 68 Ford GT driven by Sébastien Bourdais (France), Joey Hand (USA), and Dirk Müller (Germany).

After 20 hours of racing, the No. 68 Ford GT took the lead for the last time, just like in the famous race between Ford and Ferrari in 1966. Ford and Ferrari No. 82 had been driving next to each other before this. Ford passed Ferrari three times, bringing back their rivalry from 50 years ago. The No. 69 Ford GT won the race, driven by Australian Ryan Briscoe, New Zealander Scott Dixon, and British Richard Westbrook.

The 2022 Ford GT LM Edition also honors the hard work and dedication of the Ford Chip Ganassi team, which turned the car into a Le Mans winner in just over a year.

In addition to the special models made for the road, 45 Ford GT MkII models made just for track driving will be made by the end of this year. Ford Performance and Multimatic, in collaboration, made these models. You may have the new Ford GT LM Edition for $450,000.
